Your eBay Storefront Can Be An Extension of Your Dealership

Selling parts online might seem like a daunting task, but with a little bit of effort, you can quickly build up your customer base and have success. Picture your online presence as a brick and mortar store, but on the Internet. Like a brick and mortar store, your customers won’t shop with you if they can’t find the store!

When you’re selling parts online, in order to make your business a success, you need to let your potential buyers know where to find you. And you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to do it!

There are many ways you can do this, and we will write about these methods in later posts, but this post will specifically cover what you can do if you are marketing your parts on eBay. If you use a solution to put your parts inventory for sale on eBay, such as MarketplaceDirect from OEC, you are provided with a storefront that you can market to your customers. Encourage them to add you as a favorite vendor on eBay and subscribe to your communications.. That way,  you can send them email newsletters that highlight upcoming or ongoing sales and promotions you are offering on eBay listings.

Brand your page

Make sure your storefront has your dealership branding and contact information. It should feel like an extension of your dealership page. This isn’t difficult to do, and will help build your online presence. Include some wording about your dealership, your parts department specialties, awards your department has won and also provide information about returns, promos or anything else you think a customer would find relevant. Because this is not a face-to-face transaction, you want to try to optimize the customer’s experience with your eBay store as much as possible, turning them into return customers.

Leverage social media to promote your parts listings

You can get the word out about your eBay store using your existing social media sites for your dealership. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your social media person; chances are, they are looking for items to post! You might even want to market specific listings on Twitter. Keep in mind, social media is a FREE marketing tool that you have at your fingertips right now!

With just a little bit of effort, your eBay storefront can become a destination of choice for online parts buyers. Once they know where to find you, they will buy!
